Metallographic Testing Of Gray Cast Iron

Applicable materials: various grades of gray cast iron such as HT100, HT150, HT200, HT250, HT300, HT350, etc., covering as cast and heat-treated gray cast iron.

Applicable workpieces: various gray cast iron castings and blanks such as machine tool bed, engine cylinder block, pump body, valve body, mold, base, box body, etc.

Inspection purpose: Used for casting factory acceptance, incoming re inspection, production process quality control, casting and heat treatment process verification, and product failure analysis.

Graphite type determination: distinguish A-type, B-type, C-type, D-type, E-type, and F-type graphite according to the morphology of flake graphite.
Graphite length rating: Determine the length of flake graphite and evaluate it according to the corresponding level of the standard.
Uniformity of graphite distribution: Check whether the graphite distribution is uniform, whether there are local aggregation, directional arrangement and other abnormalities.
Matrix microstructure inspection: Determine the content and morphology of ferrite and pearlite in the matrix, and detect the microstructure such as cementite and phosphorus eutectic.
Grade assessment of eutectic clusters: Observe and evaluate the size and quantity grade of eutectic clusters.
Microscopic defect detection: Check for defects such as shrinkage porosity, porosity, slag inclusion, reverse whitening, network like carbides, and phosphorus eutectic segregation.
