Acid leaching testing is the core method for detecting low magnification structures in metals. It exposes macroscopic defects and structural characteristics inside the metal through chemical etching, covering almost all metal materials and hot worked parts. The specific steps are as follows:
Black metal: carbon structural steel, alloy structural steel, stainless steel, tool steel, bearing steel, cast iron (gray iron/ductile iron), cast steel, forged steel, hot-rolled/cold-rolled sheet/pipe/profile/bar
Nonferrous metals: castings, forgings, and extrusions of aluminum and aluminum alloys, copper and copper alloys, magnesium alloys, titanium alloys, zinc alloys, and nickel based alloys
Hot processed components: cast steel parts, forged and rolled parts, welded billets, continuous casting billets, hot-rolled steel billets, large shaft forgings, pressure vessel cylinder billets

Internal pore defects: looseness, shrinkage, porosity, pinholes, shrinkage, central looseness
Component segregation defects: dendritic segregation, regional segregation, central segregation, box segregation, point segregation
Inclusion/foreign object defects: aggregation of non-metallic inclusions, metal inclusions, foreign object inclusions
Molding processing defects: folding, cracks (forging cracks/casting cracks/heat treatment cracks), cold insulation, delamination, white spots, hairlines
Organizational uniformity assessment: macroscopic distribution of grain size, integrity of forging streamline, characteristics of cast dendritic structure, degree of unevenness in hot working structure
Special defects in castings: insufficient pouring, slag holes, sand holes, and areas of pore accumulation
