Applicable materials: Covering inflatable rubber materials such as natural rubber, butyl rubber, chloroprene rubber, nitrile rubber, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), polyurethane rubber, as well as supporting materials such as curtains, fabric reinforcement materials, and metal air nozzles.

Applicable scenarios: Used for raw material incoming inspection, finished product factory acceptance, type testing, engineering site sampling, durability performance evaluation, environmental adaptability testing, quality arbitration, and failure analysis; Suitable for quality control of inflatable rubber products in fields such as automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding and port, construction engineering, water conservancy and hydropower, aerospace, medical equipment, sports goods, etc.

 

Testing items

 

(1) Basic performance testing
Appearance quality: The surface is smooth without cracks, bubbles, impurities, missing glue, delamination, or obvious color difference; The air nozzle is firmly installed without looseness or leakage; The bonding/vulcanization at the joint is uniform, without any glue opening or pinholes.
Dimensional accuracy: detecting key dimensional deviations such as outer diameter, inner diameter, wall thickness, length, and width of the product; Compliance of nozzle position, angle, and specifications; The density and distribution uniformity of the fabric reinforcement layer.
(2) Physical and mechanical performance testing
Hardness (Shore A/D): Determine the hardness of rubber substrate, evaluate deformation recovery and bearing capacity, generally requiring Shore A 60-80 degrees.
Tensile properties: tensile strength (≥ 14-18MPa), elongation at break (≥ 400%), tensile stress, evaluate the material's resistance to tensile fracture and elongation, and follow the GB/T 528 standard.
Tear strength: Test the material's resistance to crack propagation (≥ 30kN/m), prevent damage during use, and follow the GB/T 529 standard.
Compression permanent deformation: Evaluate the shape recovery performance after long-term compression, ensure sealing durability, and follow GB/T 7759 standard.
Wear resistance performance: Akron abrasion test or DIN abrasion test is used to evaluate the material's wear resistance, suitable for wear prone products such as tire inner tubes and ball bearings.

(3) Airtightness and pressure resistance performance testing (core project)
Static airtightness: Fill with 1.5 times the working pressure gas, maintain the pressure for 24-48 hours, measure the pressure decay rate (≤ 0.5% Vol/min), and check for leaks caused by micropores or structural defects.
Dynamic airtightness: Simulate actual usage conditions and conduct cyclic inflation and deflation tests (1000-10000 cycles) to evaluate the stability of sealing performance during dynamic use.
Pressure resistance test: Hold the pressure for 30 minutes at 1.2-1.5 times the working pressure, measure the deformation, and ensure that there is no rupture, permanent deformation, or leakage.
Burst pressure test: Determine the critical pressure value at which the product ruptures, requiring the burst pressure to be ≥ 1.5-2 times the design pressure, and evaluate the safety margin.
Leakage point location: Using soap water bubble method or pressure attenuation positioning method to accurately locate the leakage location for quality improvement and failure analysis.


(4) Durability and environmental adaptability testing
Hot air aging: Aging at 70 ℃/100 ℃ for 72-168 hours, testing the tensile strength, elongation, hardness change rate (≤± 15%), and air tightness retention rate after aging.
Ozone aging: Static/dynamic stretching under ozone concentration of 50-200pphm and temperature of 40 ℃ to evaluate the anti ozone cracking performance, in accordance with GB/T 7762 standard.
Low temperature flexibility: bend 180 degrees at -20 ℃/-30 ℃, with no cracks or damage required, and evaluate the adaptability for low temperature use.
Chemical resistant media: acid and alkali resistance, salt water resistance, hydraulic oil resistance, fuel oil resistance, etc. The performance change rate after immersion testing shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 1690 standard.
Fatigue life: Simulate actual operating conditions for cyclic inflation and deflation fatigue tests. Automotive air spring airbags require ≥ 3 million cycles without cracks, and ball bearings require ≥ 100000 cycles without damage.
Salt spray corrosion: The anti salt spray corrosion ability of metal nozzles, valves and other accessories shall be implemented in accordance with GB/T 10125 standard.


(5) Special performance testing
Fabric reinforcement layer testing: adhesion strength between cord/fabric and rubber, tensile strength of cord, fabric density and fracture strength.
Nuclear radiation resistance: Inflatable rubber products used in special fields shall be tested for nuclear radiation resistance according to GB/T 37210 standard.
Flame retardant performance: Inflatable products used in public places are tested for oxygen index, horizontal combustion, and vertical combustion performance, and comply with relevant standards such as GB 8410.
Biocompatibility: Inflatable products for medical devices are tested for their biological safety properties such as cytotoxicity and skin irritation.
