Testing purpose: Used for stainless steel material selection, corrosion resistance grading, welding/heat treatment process verification, product quality acceptance, service safety evaluation, and gap corrosion failure analysis.

 

Testing items

 

Determination of critical crevice corrosion temperature (CCT): Heat up step by step in a standard ferric chloride test medium to determine the lowest temperature at which stainless steel undergoes crevice corrosion.

Crack corrosion morphology detection: Observe the corrosion morphology, corrosion area, and corrosion depth in the crack area to determine the corrosion characteristics and severity.

Special testing of welded joints: Determine the critical crevice corrosion temperature of stainless steel welds and heat affected zones, and evaluate the influence of welding processes on crevice corrosion resistance.

Sensitivity assessment of crevice corrosion: Based on the critical crevice corrosion temperature value, classify and compare the crevice corrosion resistance of stainless steel.

Qualification assessment of test results: Determine whether the critical crevice corrosion temperature of stainless steel meets the usage requirements according to the standard requirements.
