Testing items
(1) Basic physical and chemical properties
Status in container: check the uniformity of paint solution, whether there is caking, layering, precipitation and gel
Fineness: Detect the dispersion of pigment particles to avoid rough and uneven paint film
Viscosity: Evaluate construction fluidity using a Stomer viscometer and a coated cup test
Solid content: determined by drying method to determine the proportion of solid components, affecting film thickness and covering power
Drying time: Measure the duration of surface drying and actual drying to evaluate construction efficiency
Construction performance: leveling, covering power, brush/roll/spray adaptability, anti sagging performance
(2) Mechanical properties of paint film
Adhesion: Test the adhesion between the paint film and the substrate using the grid method and the pull off method to determine the level of detachment
Hardness: Pencil hardness and pendulum hardness testing to evaluate scratch resistance and impact resistance
Impact resistance: Heavy hammer impact test to check whether the paint film cracks or falls off
Flexibility: Bend test, cupping test, evaluate the deformation resistance of the paint film
Wear resistance/scrub resistance: The abrasion tester tests the number of scrubbing times and is suitable for interior wall and floor coatings

(3) Optical and appearance properties of paint film
Glossiness: Measure the mirror gloss at angles of 20 °, 60 °, and 85 ° to evaluate the decorative effect
Color and color difference: Determine the color difference value to ensure batch consistency and color matching accuracy
Appearance: Check the smoothness of the paint film, whether there are bubbles, pinholes, shrinkage holes, sagging, whitening, and discoloration
(4) Environmental and chemical resistance
Water resistance: immersion test, check for blistering, peeling, loss of gloss, and discoloration of the paint film
Alkali resistance: alkali immersion test, suitable for cement based wall coatings
Acid resistance: acid immersion test to evaluate corrosion resistance
Weather resistance: QUV artificial accelerated aging, xenon lamp aging, testing for loss of gloss, discoloration, powdering, and cracking
Moisture and heat resistance: high temperature and high humidity environment testing to check the stability of the paint film
Salt spray resistance: Salt spray test to evaluate the corrosion resistance of outdoor and coastal environments
Stain resistance: simulate stain testing to check the ease of cleaning of the paint film
(5) Environmental safety performance (core mandatory project)
Volatile organic compound (VOC) content: determined by gas chromatography to control indoor air pollution
Benzene derivatives: benzene, toluene, xylene (including ethylbenzene) content detection, strict control of carcinogens
Free formaldehyde: determined by acetylacetone spectrophotometry, restricted to allergenic and irritating substances
Heavy metals: soluble content detection of lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium to ensure human safety
Other harmful substances: residual detection of halogenated hydrocarbons, ethylene glycol ethers and ether esters, isocyanates (TDI/HDI)
Radiation: Limit detection of radioactive isotopes in building materials to avoid radiation hazards
