Basic Requirements For Chemical Testing Laboratories

Dec 17, 2025

A reliable chemical product testing laboratory needs to meet the following requirements:

Personnel Qualifications: Testing personnel must possess relevant chemical and analytical professional knowledge and skills, be trained and assessed, be familiar with standard methods and instrument operation, and have a strong understanding of data analysis and quality control.

Instruments and Equipment: The laboratory must be equipped with instruments and equipment that meet testing requirements and have undergone metrological verification. A comprehensive system for instrument use, maintenance, calibration, and interim verification must be established to ensure that instruments are in good working condition.

Environmental Facilities: The laboratory layout should be reasonable and include necessary ventilation, explosion-proof measures, safety protection, and waste treatment facilities. Areas requiring specific temperature and humidity control must be properly managed. Sample areas, reagent areas, and analysis areas should be effectively separated.

Reagents and Materials: High-purity water, reagents, and standard substances that meet method requirements must be used. Standard substances and critical reagents must be strictly managed.

Quality Management System: An effective laboratory quality management system must be established and implemented, covering the entire process from sample reception, identification, handling, testing, and report issuance. The reliability of test results should be continuously monitored and improved through internal quality control and external proficiency testing activities.
